Brooke's Top 10 Bible Stories - #5

#5: Moses and the Wall of Water

Moses Crossing the Red Sea

Moses had an exciting life. First, he was born to slaves, and the king threatened to kill him. Then he was saved, his mother was paid to watch him while he was still an infant, and as he grew older, he was raised in the palace. He was later exiled for 40 years after he killed someone.

One of the most exciting stories about Moses' life was when God parted the Red Sea for him. The Israelites must have thought that he was crazy, because he went South to escape Egypt, and then the armies were coming after him. It must have been pretty scary, having the Red Sea to the front and a huge army to the back. It must have been even more exciting to see the Red Sea part for them!

Some people say that the Israelites passed through a very shallow part of the Red Sea, but if that was true, then it was a great miracle for all of the Egyptian army to drown in shallowwater.

I believe that Josephus mentions that the Israelites picked up all the Egyptian's weapons after they washed up on the shore. That would explain why a large group of ex-slaves wandering around in the desert had enough weapons to take on the armies in the book of Joshua!
